The 31 of July — Harry Potter’s Birthday!

Harry James Potter is born on this day!

«— born as the seventh month dies…»

Sybill Trelawney's prediction referring to this date.

«This boy will be famous, a legend. I wouldn't be surprised if today was known as Harry Potter day in future. There will be books written about Harry, every child in our world will know his name.»

Minerva McGonagall regarding Harry's future.

31 July is the 212 nd day of the year (213th in leap years). There are 153 days remaining until the end of the year.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry expects to receive an owl confirming the receipt of the Hogwarts acceptance letter by non-Muggle-born students by this date.

Harry Potter was born on 31 July, 1980 to Lily and James Potter, members of the (original) Order of the Phoenix at the height of the First Wizarding War; he was born «hours» after classmate Neville Longbottom. From birth, he lived in hiding with his parents after Voldemort marked them for death. They lived in the village of Godric's Hollow in a home put under the Fidelius Charm to keep them hidden. They also had planned to make Sirius Black their Secret-Keeper, but on his advice, they changed this designation to Peter Pettigrew, whom they thought would be less suspicious. In a terrible turn of fate, it happened that Pettigrew was a spy for Voldemort. He betrayed James and Lily, then faked his own death, and framed Sirius for both.

When Harry was born Lily held a christening; it was quiet and quick. Only James, Lily, Harry, and Sirius were there. For Harry's first birthday, Sirius bought him a toy broomstick. The Potters owned a cat, but it is unknown what happened to it after Voldemort's attack.

It's a double birthday! J.K. Rowling was born July 31, 1965, in Bristol, England. From the stories that Rowling tells about her composition of the Harry Potter book series, Harry was born on a train one day when she imagined the story. Harry's official birthday as recorded in the novels, however, is July 31.

Combine the celebration of both birthdays!
